PERSONAL GROWTH IS A CALLING
Clients have described me as being a “woman of substance.” I’ll take it as a compliment. In my coaching, I drill deep quickly and get to the core of issues. Frankly, I am not for the faint of heart. I prefer to work only with people who have achieved some success and want to harness their wisdom and take their game to the next level.
Since 2003, I have leveraged my business career and life experience into a role as an executive coach and international speaker, author and columnist. I practice what I preach. I have been my own agent of change during my career. It has sparked in me a passion for helping others change as well. I’ve committed my life to it.
Philanthropist, entrepreneur, team leader, sales trainer, consultant, speaker, author, radio host and columnist are some of the titles I have held over my business career. I’ve gained valuable insight and learned what it takes to become a strong, self-confident leader.
I have over 40 years of experience in leading companies and teams. Some positions I’ve held include Managing Director of the Private Client Group at U.S. Bank, President of VHT Conservatorships, and Controller of Allied Decals.
I earned a B.S. in Business from Indiana University and have received specialized training as a coach from Coach University, Dream Coach University, John Maxwell and the Center for Executive Coaching. These trainings include over 500 hours of course work, coaching and ongoing education. I’ve also received a Certification from Organization Systems International to employ the Polaris Competency Model and 360° Survey, and am certified to administer the ProfileXT through Profiles International.
In addition, I’m a Director and CEO Coach with the Chief Executives Guild (CEG), an exclusive membership organization created by and for presidents and CEOs of companies in the greater Portland area. Members gain new insights from peers and thought leaders on leadership and management. I facilitate a bi-monthly CEO peer MasterMind Group for members within the CEG.
In late 2015, I published a book titled Cancer: From Tears to Triumph in which I describe my own battle and victory with oral cancer.
From 2011 through 2014 I was co-host of Smart Women Talk Radio. We had over 500,000 subscribers to our weekly internet radio show.
In 2005, I co-founded the Itafari Foundation. We created a non-profit organization to assist the survivors of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Our work includes supporting microfinance for women, and primary and secondary education for children.
In 2011, my first book Dead Rita’s Wisdom was published. It is a funny, profound and powerful book that helps tap into the lessons we receive from those who love, teach and guide us.

Accomplishing what seems impossible inspires me. Watching others do it inspires me even more. Seeing the courage of people to overcome tough challenges and achieve great things inspires me too.
My husband inspires me as well. When I married John in 1981 he brought with him four incredible stepchildren who now have eight beautiful children of their own. Has it been easy? Are we the Brady bunch? Nope. Far from it. But we are committed to one another and today this expanding family is proof of how we’ve grown together.
I continue to be in the process of learning patience, selflessness, the value of humor, the miracle of prayer, the sadness of loss, and the joy of forgiveness. I also realize as a businesswoman that my entire world tilts when there is disharmony in my personal life. So I strive for harmony, peace and fulfillment. And I will not settle for mediocrity. Ever.
Working with others who are committed to reaching their next level of success is the most satisfying work I have ever done. I am constantly awed by the amazing transformation I see when people put their minds to making a change. In short, nothing – I repeat nothing – is impossible
